Leicester International Institute Held the First Lecture
On the afternoon of October 24th, a listening lecture was given by Rebekah Payne in Building A01, Room N205. The topic of the lecture was how to be a better listener.
Rebekah Payne explained why listening in a second language cause problems and used Survey, Question, Listen, Recall, and Review (SQLRR) sequence to encourage the students for more attentive and successful listening. In this lecture, students also listened to a popular TED talk which is very significant and useful. Today students learned many skills in listening. For example, when we listen, we should pay attention to context, and understand key points and purpose. Not only did we learn the skills in lecture, but also we realized the importance of learning English .
In a word, Rebekah Payne ' s lecture is very great for both interesting and useful .
