一、 专业及专业方向介绍/Introduction of Major and Major Direction

应用化学专业是由大连理工大学与英国莱斯特大学合作办学开设的专业,结合大连理工大学深厚的工科教育基础与莱斯特大学优异的理科化学教育资源,引进国际先进办学理念和人才培养模式,重点培养具有国际化视野的交叉复合化学化工人才,提升学生国际化竞争能力。本专业的课程体系由大连理工大学与莱斯特大学联合制定,核心课程采用全英文授课模式,英方教师教授的核心课程比例约为50%。学制上采取“4+0”的培养模式,学生入学后在双方学校同时注册,取得双方学籍。学生毕业前能够同时满足大连理工大学和莱斯特大学学位授予要求,则同时授予中英双方两校的学士学位。本专业主要学习化学等自然科学基础知识、基本理论、基本技能以及相关的工程技术知识,学生将受到基础研究和应用基础研究方面的科学思维和科学实验训练,并具有较好的科学素养,流利的英语听说能力,具备运用所学知识和实验技能进行应用研究、技术开发和科技管理的基本技能。

Applied Chemistry is a joint-major offered by Dalian University of Technology and University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. Combining the deep foundation of engineering education of Dalian University of Technology with the excellent resources of chemistry education of Universityof Leicester, we introduce the advanced international concepts and talent training model, focus on the training chemical and chemical engineering talents with an international perspective to enhance the international competitiveness of students. The curriculum system of this major is jointly formulated by Dalian University of Technology and Universityof Leicester. The core modules are delivered in English. The proportion of core modules delivered by British teachers is about 50%. The educational system adopts the "4 + 0" training mode, and students are registered in both Universities at the same time after enrollment. Before graduation, if students are able to meet the degree award requirements of Dalian University of Technology and Universityof Leicester, and will be awarded bachelor's degrees from bothuniversities. This major mainly studies the basic knowledge of natural science, such as chemistry, basic theory, basic skills and related engineering and technical knowledge. Students will be trained in scientific thinking and scientific practices in basic research and applied basic research. They also have good scientific literacy, fluent English listening and speaking ability, and have the ability to apply what they have learned to applied research, technology development and science and technology management.

本专业培养适应二十一世纪社会发展,满足国家现代化建设需要,具有高尚的道德品质、宽厚的知识基础、突出的能力潜力、优秀的综合素质和开阔的国际视野,富有创新精神和竞争意识的现代复合型国际化高级精英人才,同时也为学生今后攻读相关专业的高一级学位打好基础。

This major training based on social development and national modernization construction need in the 21st century, aiming at cultivation of all-round development, with noble moral quality, broad knowledge, outstanding potential ability, excellent comprehensive quality and broaden the vision of international field, innovative and competitive modern international senior elite talents, but also for students to study for a higher degree in relevant field.

2.培养要求/Professional Requirements

①专业能力:掌握化学和应用化学学科的基本理论、基本知识。掌握必要的工程基础知识。具有对化学品的新产品、新工艺、新技术和新设备进行研究、开发和设计的初步能力。

Professional ability: Grasping the basic theory and knowledge of chemistry and applied chemistry. Mastering the necessary basic knowledge of engineering. The preliminary ability for research, development and design of the new chemicals product, new technology and new equipment.

②语言能力:流利的英语口语交流能力和写作能力,良好的人际沟通能力、协调能力和团队合作精神。

Language ability: Fluent spoken English communication ability and writing ability, good interpersonal skills、coordination skills and teamwork spirit.

③发展潜力:在扎实的专业基础上,使学生具有宽广的国际视野,具有担当责任、贡献社会、保护环境的责任担当意识,密切关注学科发展前沿和热点问题,初步培养创新能力。

Development potential: On the basis of solid professional knoeledge, make students have broad international vision, sence of responsibility to society, contribution and environmental protection, close attention to the discipline development frontier and hot issues and the preliminary training innovation ability.

三、学制与学位/Study Period and Degree

本专业基本学制四年,按培养计划修完全部学分之后,达到毕业要求,授予大连理工大学应用化学专业和莱斯特大学化学专业两个理学学士学位。

The essential duration of study for this major is four years. After earning all the credits and satisfying the graduation requirements, students will be awarded dual science bachelor’s degree from both DUT (Applied Chemistry) and UoL ( Chemistry).
