Entering a new semester, we are facing a lot of mathematical modelling competitions. To help students have a further understanding of MathorCup and mathematical modelling related knowledge, enhance the enthusiasm of mathematical modelling competition, and improve the ability to use modelling software. students held the eighth science and technology innovation salon in classroom c07-301 on March 27. In this salon, Wu Huanyu, a national award winner, was invited to share relevant knowledge and experience.

Firstly, Wu Huanyu shared an effective website ‘’ and introduced some well-known mathematic model competitions. For example, the mathematic modelling contest for American college students and the national mathematic modelling contest. He clarified two important skills in the modelling contests: referring to information and carrying out an algorithm.

Secondly, to have a better preparation and greater method of modelling, he recommended the books below for other students to learn.

Mathematical Modeling Algorithms and Applications

The authors were Si Shoukui and Sun Xijing. This book covers a lot of new algorithms and hot technologies that are rarely seen in books of the same kind. It can not only be used as the teaching material but also as a reference book of the national mathematical modelling competition for students.

Excellent Paper on Mathematical Modeling

This book covers the analysis of national competitions in previous years. Students can practice modelling and coding according to the examples in this book.

Machine Learning

As an introduction to the field of computer science and artificial intelligence, which covers the basics of machine learning.

Further studying

This book systematically explains in-depth the mature deep learning methods and technologies, allowing readers to have a deeper understanding and experience in computers.

After that, he introduced MATLAB and Python languages which aim the brach of computer and shared the language modules of Python, Tensorflow, Keras additionally. Moreover, the commonly used software SPSS when solving huge data and two commonly used websites when modelling have been introduced:

· CSDN

· GitHub

Finally, he used the essay of previous years to analyze the structure together with students. In the explanation, he shared some excellent examples and analyses of writing methods and ideas as well as his experience. He recommended that students should participate in more innovation and entrepreneurship training programs to expand their horizons and cultivate scientific research capabilities.

This salon gave students a deeper insight into digital modelling and a more specific understanding of science and technology.
