On the morning of May 19, the opening ceremony of the 2023 "Liu Changchun Cup" sports meeting of DUT was held in the university sports field of Lingshui Campus.

University leaders as well as heads of departments (colleges) and relevant institutions attended the opening ceremony. Liu Hongtu, son of Liu Changchun and former deputy dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, was specially invited to attend the ceremony. DUT Vice President Zhang Yanjun delivered an opening speech. The opening ceremony was presided over by Li Pengsong, dean of the School of Kinesiology and Health Promotion.

At 4 p.m., the 2023 Sports Meeting came to a successful conclusion. University leaders presented awards to the winning groups and individuals.

As a highlight, university staff Shuai Tao broke the university record of the staff men's shot put competition with 13.90 meters, Zhang Fuxu from campus of development zone broke the record of the staff men's 200-meters competition with 23.20 seconds, and Du Shizhao from Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences broke the record of students' javelin competition with a result of 65.73 meters.
