Career Planning Activities are Launched for DLI Students

The series of career planning activities is a new featured brand activity created by the DLI to summarize the experience of student training in the first four-year education experience, which is divided into four sections: Model (Exemplary Power), Support (Seniors’ Guidance), Explore (Academic Edge), and Vision (International Vision). They are aimed to help students better understand the development trend of related industries, establish a correct concept of talent and career choice, cultivate the sense of career planning, enhance the competitiveness of students and promote high-quality employment.
DLI Model
In order to excavate the typical individuals and excellent groups of the Institute and give full play to the leading role of models, DLI Model was carried out for a special report. A total of 16 students shared their university gains, experiences and feelings and leave messages to junior students. It enables students to better understand the role models around them, find their own gaps and gradually form a kind of strong atmosphere of becoming the role for others. In the report, many students who studied abroad expressed their desire to return to China after completing their studies and serve the motherland with their own studies, which also fully demonstrated the cultivation effect under the Institute’s educational concept, "more international, more patriotic".
DLI Support
In the face of students' diversified employment and further education needs, the Institute held 7 themed experience sharing sessions which include employment, postgraduate entrance exam and studying abroad. A total of 19 outstanding alumni and the class of 2022 graduates from Oxford University, Imperial College London, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Zhejiang University and other famous universities domestic and abroad, as well as outstanding domestic enterprises and institutions such as Mudanjiang Youth League Committee, Sinopec, Ningde New Energy, etc, shared their career search process and experience and guiding the junior students to fully understand the employment status and plan their careers scientifically and reasonably. Combined with the characteristics of the high proportion of studying abroad, DLI not only increases the number of sharing sessions for studying abroad but also establishes a QQ consulting group to make full use of the resources of alumni to help students break the barriers of studying abroad and grasp the information of the foreign universities.
DLI Explore
Good English practice ability and high academic literacy are the "stepping stones" for DLI students to further their studies and employment. In order to stimulate students' enthusiasm for academic research and help students understand the frontiers of the discipline, the Institute explores the resource advantages of the two universities and invites professors of related disciplines of the University of Leicester to carry out academic reports regularly. UoL outstanding professors that combined their own research and the characteristics of the programme made 6 high-quality academic reports, covering cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, big data, nanotechnology, new materials, etc., and more than 1,000 teachers and students joined in the report online. Students have said that "in the interesting teaching of foreign teachers, their academic vision and English ability have been significantly improved."
DLI Vision
DLI Vision is the only offline special event during the epidemic. Professor Tan Zhenquan, the Vice Dean of DLI who has 12 years of study abroad experience was firstly invited to carry out the activity of “café time with professors”. More than 10 students join in this special meeting and put aside their reticence and concerns, and open their hearts to reveal their own growth confusion. Prof. Tan shared his learning and life experience of studying abroad for many years and gave his own suggestions on the international exchange opportunities, scientific research ability training, overseas professional choices and other issues that students are more concerned about, and finally he encouraged the students to embrace their goals, shoulder their missions and write the youth answers with hard work and diligent.
