On May 29, Dong Hongbiao, academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering, director of the Doctoral Training Centre for Metal Processing of the Natural Science Foundation of the UK and a professor of the University of Leicester, was invited to visit the Panjin Campus and gave an academic report accompanied by Prof. Zhan Jingjing, President Assistant, and other colleagues of DLI.  

With the theme of Engineering and Technology Sustainability Trends 2023-2030, academician Dong guided the audience to explore the development direction of future engineers. He mentioned  the six major challenges that mankind will have to face in future innovation and emphasized that engineers and technology should maintain sustainable development. In the Q&A session, he said that outstanding engineers should bring their superiority into full and build themselves into comprehensive talents in multiple fields, especially in the era that artificial intelligence growing fast.

Finally, academician Dong urged the students to be courageous in exploring and innovating in the face of challenges and to consider perseverance as a necessary quality for an engineer.
