On September 10th, Professor Jin Xuan Liu of the Leicester International Institute (DLI) invited Professor Paolo Falcaro from the Department of Materials Science at Graz University of Technology to deliver a insightful academic lecture entitled "3D-oriented MOF Films and Micro-patterns."

Professor Falcaro introduced Metal-organic framework (MOF) materials, which hold immense promise for applications in various areas such as sensing, microelectronics, and optics. His presentation combined accessibility and depth, offering insights into the latest breakthroughs in the 3D-orientation of MOF films and micro-patterns. He particularly emphasized the innovative use of  ceramic precursors. On the basis of the 3D polycrystalline copper-based MOF deposited by the heteroepitaxial growth of copper based ceramics, Paolo's research team made the MOF materials possible to be realized in related devices by controlling the geometric position, shape and crystal orientation of the micropatterns. Professor Falcaro also highlighted a pioneering research strategy that shows great potential for expanding into the field of lithography, particularly for the microfabrication of 3D-oriented MOF patterns.

During the Q&A session, students and faculty engaged in discussing with Professor Falcaro. This high-level academic exchange contributed to fostering an intellectually vibrant atmosphere. Besides, in-depth discussions between the institute and Professor Falcaro further strengthened ties, leading to a preliminary agreement on future collaboration in research projects and student exchange programs based on mutual interests and visions.

DLI continues to prioritize the creation of high-level academic exchange platforms, aiming to ignite the research enthusiasm and innovation capacities of both faculty and students.
