Career Prospects:

Graduates can engage in designing, researching, manufacturing, managing and teaching in the Process equipment and process control design of chemical industry, oil refining, medicine, light industry, machinery, environmental protection, etc

BSc Mathematics

(From September 2019)

Today Mathematics has become almost a pre-requisite for life given the introduction of big data. Understanding mathematics is integral to designing new aircraft or providing tomorrow's weather forecast, and graduates can find themselves employed in areas as diverse as high energy physics and economic forecasting. Mathematical expertise – including algebra, mathematical computing, topology and actuarial science – will be developed throughout the course with a wide range of specialist modules on offer.

Core Modules:

Algorithm, Data Structures and Advanced Programming, Analytic Geometry, Calculus &Analysis, Probability, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, Mathematical Statistics, Numerical Analysis, Function of Real Variable, Complex Function, Ordinary Differential Equation, Partial Differential Equation, etc.

Career Prospects:

Graduates can engage in research work in interdisciplinary fields such as financial mathematics, data science and computational science, as well as in technology development and management of finance, electronics and information engineering areas.

BSc Pharmaceutical Chemistry

(From September 2025)

Pharmaceutical science underpins the discovery, development and safe use of medicines, and the global shift towards innovative drug discovery continues to drive demand for graduates who can work across chemistry, biology and data science. Jointly designed by Dalian University of Technology and the University of Leicester, the programme provides the solid foundational knowledge, specialist skills and comprehensive laboratory training required in this field, with core modules delivered in English and around half taught by University of Leicester academic staff.

Core Modules:

Cell and Molecular Biology, Introductory Inorganic Chemistry, Introductory Organic Chemistry, Introductory Physical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences Administration and Statute, Computer-aided Drug Design, Hit to Lead Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Major Therapeutic Areas, Modern Approaches and Biologics in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacognosy & Natural Pharmaceutical Chemistry, etc.

Career Prospects:

Graduates can engage in drug discovery and development, pharmaceutical production, quality control, distribution and pharmaceutical care, and can also take on roles in pharmaceutical administration and regulation in pharmaceutical enterprises, research institutes, hospitals and regulatory authorities.

BEng Environmental and Ecological Engineering

(From September 2025)

Ecological restoration and pollution control are now central to global efforts towards carbon neutrality, and demand is growing for engineers able to integrate ecology, environmental science and data-driven design. Jointly designed by Dalian University of Technology and the University of Leicester, the programme builds a solid theoretical foundation in ecological engineering and ecology alongside frontier technologies in modern environmental science. Core modules are delivered in English, with around half taught by University of Leicester academic staff, supported by the first-class discipline of Environmental Science and Engineering and a key laboratory of the Ministry of Education.

Core Modules:

Fundamentals of the Physical Environment, Environment Nature and Society, General Biology and Biochemistry, Dynamic Biosphere, Ecological and Environmental Chemistry, Geographical Information Science (GIS), Environmental Data Analysis, Catchment Systems, Environmental and Ecological Engineering, Ecological Planning and Practical Design, Ecological Monitoring and Assessment, Mineral Resources for Net Zero Carbon, Water Quality Processes and Management, Remote Sensing of the Environment, Environmental Management, etc.

Career Prospects:

Graduates can engage in engineering design, technology development, consulting, management and teaching in areas such as ecological restoration, pollution prevention and control, environmental management, smart environmental protection and the low-carbon economy, in environmental enterprises, design and research institutes and government agencies.
