On June 29, a six-member delegation led by Professor Jinlei Zhang, Dean of the Houston International College of Dalian Maritime University, visited Leicester International College of Dalian University of Technology (DLI) for a focused research exchange on the development of Sino-foreign cooperative education mechanisms and the innovation of talent cultivation models. The reception and roundtable were chaired by Dean Jining Sun. The exchange was also attended by Deputy Dean Zhenquan Tan; Deputy Party Secretary and Deputy Dean Lingling Zhao; Deputy Dean Jintao Zhang; Professor Guangyu Zou, Deputy Dean of the Queensland University of Technology International Engineering College; Deputy Party Secretary and Deputy Dean Yongliang Li; and heads of relevant offices.
Dean Jinlei Zhang and her delegation toured the College and gained a detailed understanding of its achievements in building an internationalized environment for teaching and learning. At the roundtable that followed, Professor Zhenquan Tan gave a systematic introduction to the history, achievements and development plan of Leicester International College. Professor Guangyu Zou, Deputy Dean of the Queensland University of Technology International Engineering College, spoke about the establishment of the new college and its programme design. Dean Jinlei Zhang then outlined the work of the Houston International College and the Strathclyde Maritime Engineering College.
During the open discussion, participants focused on core issues in Sino-foreign cooperative education and exchanged views in depth on academic affairs management, integrated bachelor's-master's-doctoral training and the development of student support initiatives. Both sides also shared experience and suggestions on common challenges such as the recruitment of international faculty and the delivery of cross-cultural education.
Taking this visit as an opportunity, the College will continue to deepen practical cooperation with all partners and jointly explore new models of “Internationalization at Home”, contributing to the development of China into a leading nation in education.
