To guide DLI students into the front line of industry, let them feel the pulse of the real economy and connect what they have learned with the needs of national industrial development, the “Yuanlai Shili · Zhifang Jinwu” practice team travelled to Nanjing, Nantong and Kunshan in Jiangsu Province for a five-day “Serve the Nation” enterprise visit. The team paid close-up visits to benchmark companies in key fields including artificial intelligence, chips and semiconductors, brain–computer interfaces, optoelectronic smart manufacturing and high-end precision manufacturing, clarifying industry trends and identifying where young people should direct their efforts while studying on site.
The team visited research institutions including Nanjing Zhongke Microelectronics Co., Ltd. and the Jiangsu Brain–Computer Interface Research Institute, getting hands-on exposure to smart consumer devices, industrial robots, full-process chip production lines and frontier neural signal technologies. In the discussions that followed, industry experts systematically analysed the changes that AI is bringing to the job market, and encouraged young people to master AI tools proactively and to build their core competitiveness on solid professional capability.

The team also went deep into a number of leading high-end manufacturing enterprises, including Zhongtian Technology Group, the ZEISS Asia-Pacific Center in Suzhou and Hengli Group, covering sectors such as optical communications and new energy, precision optical processing, and new materials, refining and shipbuilding. From a fibre-optic cable company serving global markets, to suppliers specialising in precision injection moulding and high-end optical inspection, and on to an industrial group with an integrated “oil, textiles, new materials and shipbuilding” layout, the team witnessed the full-chain, coordinated development pattern of manufacturing in the Yangtze River Delta.

Through this enterprise visit, our students gained a direct sense of the powerful momentum behind industrial transformation and upgrading and the continuous iteration of scientific and technological innovation. It also helped them identify where to focus their studies, embrace the changes brought by intelligent technology, and consciously integrate their personal growth into national priorities such as advanced manufacturing and digital innovation — putting youthful hard work behind the original aspiration of serving the nation through industry.
